The Candlelight table is read by strangers. Before your first post, the app shows these rules and asks you to agree. These are the same rules.

The rules

• No harassment. Nobody gets singled out, followed or piled on.
• No hate. Nothing against anyone for who they are.
• No sexual content.
• No one else’s private information: no full names, phone numbers, emails or addresses.
• No copied text. Write in your own words, and name the book if you are drawing on one.
• Posts can be reported or removed. A report marks the post hidden at the service; cached views may take time to update. Moderators can remove posts or restrict further posting.

How posting works

Posting is a separate choice from AI permission. Posts are pseudonymous: moderation uses hashed installation identifiers. Typed or pasted writing is not verified as human-authored. With approval-first moderation enabled, a reading waits privately for up to fourteen days, then remains visible for seven days after approval. A candle normally lasts a week. The retired shelf accepts no new posts; existing items expire after seven days, or thirty from the last keep. You can take posts back, but others' saved copies remain.

Automated checks can reject posts that appear to contain crisis requests, requests for professional advice or private contact information. These checks can miss content or make mistakes; they do not verify authorship or replace moderation.

Reports and blocking

Report marks a post hidden pending review; cached copies can take time to disappear. The post and report may also be emailed to the moderation mailbox. Those emails are not automatically erased when a post expires, is removed or a report is resolved. See the privacy policy for retention and deletion limits.

Block hides posts on your phone using an author-block identifier when available. Older posts may only support candle-level blocking. It may not recognize the same person after a reinstall or on another device.
